George Johnstone has been named Corona’s police chief.
A 31-year law enforcement veteran, Johnstone began his new duties Sept. 4, according to a statement.
Johnstone began his career as a cadet and reserve officer with the Chino Police Department. Most recently he was a captain with the La Habra Police Department, where he received numerous awards, including supervisor of the year in 2003.
During his career, Johnstone has been a patrol officer, K-9 handler, detective and supervisor of the North County Swat Team. He has also managed operations and support services divisions.
“George Johnstone is a dynamic leader with extensive experience and an impressive law enforcement career,” City Manager Darrell Talbert said in the statement. “We are honored to have George join the Corona team.”
