Corona veteran recognized for community service

Don Kindred of Corona has been named the 60th Assembly District’s Veteran of the Year.

Kindred served in the Navy aboard the USS Haleakala during the Vietnam War, according a statement.

He received the award during the 11th Annual Veterans Recognition Luncheon, which was held recently at the state capitol in Sacramento.

“Don Kindred served our country with honor and distinction and has long been a pillar of the Corona community,” Assemblywoman Sabrina Cervantes said in the statement. “Through his involvement in various local organizations, Don has demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the quality of life in our region.”

Kindred founded the Corona Symphony Orchestra in 2008 and is now its executive director. He is also president of the Arts Alive Council of Corona and Circle City Kiwanis, according to the statement.
