Riverside County health officials have announced changes to its COVID-19 vaccination sites.
The changes – several new sites, some schedule changes and one closing – began this week in an attempt to improve access to testing countywide, according to a statement on the county’s website.
Those changes include:
- Three sites will be opened Wednesday and operated by OptumServe: in Norco at 1377 Hamner Ave., in Temecula at 39716 Winchester Road, and in Desert Hot Springs at 11711 West Drive;
- The site at the Lake Elsinore Stadium will be expanded to Thursday through Monday and be operated by Curative;
- The Indio Fairgrounds site will be run by Curative;
- The Corona High School site will close Friday, with staff to be moved to a Moreno Valley clinic. That location will be announced soon. Anyone who received their first dose at Corona High School will be told when and where to get their second shot;
- The Perris Fairgrounds site has been converted to a COVID-19 testing site and is open seven days a week.
“We are excited to have more vaccine sites open for our residents to get vaccinated as quickly as possible and closer to their communities,” said Supervisor Karen Spiegel in the statement. “These vaccines are working to protect our residents and help our community recover from this disease.”

With post-COVID health problems, there was one vax site I could make it to with a fairly short bus ride: the Corona High School location. So of course it’s been closed. Not that there’s any vaccine available for a 70+ year old anyway. I can barely get out of bed. Back to Square One.Thanks to the decision-makers busy throwing sand into the gears.
