A popular discount retailer will open a store in Riverside.
Big Lots, which operates more than 1,400 stores in 47 states, has leased 35,000 square feet at Canyon Springs Marketplace next to the 60 Freeway, according to Progressive Real Estate Partners in Rancho Cucamonga.
Progressive Real Estate represented the landlord in the negotiations. Lease terms were not disclosed.
Located at 2620 Canyon Springs Parkway, the store is expected to open early next year. The space was most recently occupied by JoAnn Fabrics.
Other tenants include Old Navy, Petco, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, and Michaels, along with shops and restaurants.
This will be one of Big Lots’ first California stores that will represent the company’s new design, which will include upgraded lighting, paint, flooring, and fixtures. It will sell home decor, furniture, seasonal items, food, electronics, toys, and accessories.
“In addition to providing the local community with a great new place to shop, this is also terrific news for the shopping center,” said Brad Umansky, president of Progressive Real Estate and a member of the negotiating team, in a statement. “It gains a new anchor tenant that will draw more traffic to the property.”
Canyon Springs Parkway opened in 2006. More than 218,000 people live within a five-mile radius of the shopping center, and an average of 130,000 vehicles pass by the site every day, according to the statement.
