Kelly Capen Douglas has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Voices for Children, a court-certified nonprofit that recruits and trains court volunteers in Riverside and San Diego counties.
Those volunteers help children in foster care who have been abused and neglected, including advocating for them in court, according to a statement.
Douglas is scheduled to take over Oct. 14.
Since 2005, Douglas been the University of San Diego’s general counsel, where she oversees the school’s legal department and is chief legal advisor to the board of trustees. Before that she was a partner at Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps LLP – now Dentons – a multinational law firm.
Douglas is also vice chair of the board of directors of the Goodwill Industries of San Diego and works with the National Association of College and University Attorneys, according to the statement.
