Eastvale council member appointed to full term

Todd Rigby has been appointed to a four-year term on the Eastvale City Council.

Rigby was appointed Tuesday during a special council meeting and will serve until 2022, said Steven Aguilar, Eastvale city clerk.

Mayor pro tem Rigby, who won a special election two years ago when Councilman William Link resigned, was appointed because he is the only person running for the District One council seat this November.

The deadline to file candidate’s papers was Aug.10.

“We were surprised because there are a lot of people in that district who are [politically] active, but no one wanted to run against him,” Aguilar said. “They must think he’s doing a great job.”

The mayor and mayor pro tem titles, both of which last for one year and are largely ceremonial, will be decided in December, Aguilar said.
