Joy Fehr has resigned as president of La Sierra University.
Fehr, who became the Seventh-day Adventist university’s fourth president in 2019, agreed to step down after a week of talks with the board of trustees, according to a statement on the school’s website.
Provost April Summitt will serve as acting president of the Riverside school while the board begins looking for an interim president.
No reason for Fehr’s resignation was given.
“The La Sierra University board is deeply grateful to Dr. Fehr for stepping into the challenging role of president in 2019 and for her diligent guidance during the tumultuous months of the pandemic and beyond.” the statement reads.
Fall semester classes will start on schedule Sept. 25, according to the statement.
