A former Kmart building in Big Bear Lake will be converted into an 80,000-square-foot neighborhood shopping center.
Wood Investments Companies Inc. in Newport Beach will divide the building at Big Bear Lake Shopping Center, into three anchor tenant suites, according to a statement released by the company on Monday.
The shopping center is the southwest corner of Big Bear Boulevard and Fox Farm Road. The Kmart building was built in 1992 and has been vacant for the last two years.
Grocery Outlet and a soft-goods retailer who was not identified have agreed to lease 17,193 square feet and 23,228 square feet, respectively. Further information regarding those transactions was not released.
A third retailer, also not identified, is negotiating to lease about 25,000 square feet of the structure, which Wood Investments bought in December for $6.5 million. Construction is expected to start in the fourth quarter of this year and be finished by next March, according to the statement.
