Freeman joins San Bernardino

Nathan Freeman has been named San Bernardino’s director of community and economic development.

Freeman began work May 16, according to a statement on the city’s website.

“Nathan Freeman has extensive experience successfully negotiating major development agreements while at the same time creating opportunities for small businesses and startups,” said City Manager Robert Field in the statement. “He has played a critical role in the recent development in downtown Riverside and is a great addition to the San Bernardino team.”

Freeman now oversees San Bernardino’s planning and building divisions, code enforcement, economic development, and its housing policies, according to the statement.

For the past 16 years, Freeman has been Riverside’s economic development, redevelopment, and real property services manager, according to the statement.
