At least for now, California motorists are enjoying a break at the gas pump.
As of this morning, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline statewide was $3.26, down from $3.33 one week ago and $3.82 last year at this time, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
Prices were also on the decline in the Inland Empire: motorists in Riverside and San Bernardino counties paid an average of $3.38 for a gallon of regular gasoline, down from $3.45 one week ago and $3.78 one year ago.
The national average for one gallon of regular was $2.39, down from $2.45 last week and down from $3.43 in September 2014, according to AAA.
Some analysts are predicting that the average price could drop to $2.50 by Christmas.
