Inland motorists are taking a hit at the service station.
The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline recently went up 26 cents, to $3.41, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
That price was recorded Friday.
That’s one of the largest increases ever recorded in the region, adding $3.12 to a 12-gallon fill-up in one week, according to the report, which cited the AAA Fuel Monitor as its source.
Several factors were blamed for the increase, including a sharp rise in crude oil prices and the annual introduction of “summer blend” gasoline onto the market, the Press-Enterprise report stated.
