Brie Griset-Smith is the Inland Empire Community Foundation’s new senior vice president of charitable giving.
Griset-Smith, who began work Nov. 1, has more than 20 years experience in fundraising, program development, staff management and financial administration, according to a statement on the foundation’s website.
Most recently, Griset-Smith was chief development officer for the Discovery Science Foundation, which raises money and develops programs for Orange County science learning centers.
The Upland resident also raised more that $100 million in Orange and Los Angeles counties when she was vice president of development at the Orange County United Way.
“Over the last several years, our board has been working to build a culture of philanthropy in the Inland Empire,” said Michelle Decker, the foundation’s president and chief executive officer, in the statement. “Hiring Brie is one of our biggest steps to putting the team in place to support our board, staff, donors and stakeholders to activate giving across our diverse region.”
Founded in 1941, the community foundation is the largest and oldest entity of its kind in the Inland region. Since it began, it has given out more than $100 million in grants and scholarships, according to the statement.
