Gym membership company to expand into Inland Empire

A company that provides memberships to fitness centers throughout the world is expanding into the Inland Empire.

ClassPass, which has partnerships with an estimated 8,500 studios and gymnasiums worldwide, will add facilities in Riverside to its portfolio late this year or early next year, according to a statement released Tuesday.

Exactly what local fitness centers ClassPass will link up with has not been determined, but its move into the Inland region is overdue, said Ashlee Hennings, spokeswoman for the New York-based business.

“We’re already in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco,” Hennings said. “Getting into the Inland Empire was the next logical step.”

ClassPass members can arrange an exercise session – including yoga, pilates or a regular workout – at a ClassPass-member facility, using a smart phone app or the company’s website, www.classpass.com.

Most of ClassPass’ partnerships are with small fitness centers, and prices vary depending on location and the service requested. The service is ideal for people who travel  frequently, and it can also be an alternative to a regular fitness center membership, Hennings said.

At same time it establishes itself in Riverside, ClassPass – which was started four years ago – will expand into Cincinnati, Honolulu, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Salt Lake City and Calgary, Canada, according to the statement.
