A facility that will help provide workers for manufacturing operations has opened at the Southern California Logistics Airport in Victorville.
The High Desert Training Center, a partnership between Chaffey College and Victor Valley College, is modeled after the Chaffey College Industrial Technical Learning Center in Fontana, according to a statement.
In August, the school began training industrial mechanics from several companies, with Chaffey College using a state grant to cover the cost of the training. All trainees will continue to receive instruction through 2022.
In 2016, the High Desert Manufacturers Council, a grouping of Victor Valley manufacturers and community colleges – decided there was a need for such a center.
“When Vice President Kamala Harris visited InTech three years ago as a senator, she called our center a national model for workforce development and training,” said Sandra Sisco, director of economic development at InTech, in the statement. “We are proud to be living up to that description.”
