Hospital chef joins hall of fame

Joe Eidem, executive chef at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, has been inducted into the American Academy of Chefs Culinary Hall of Fame.

A member of the American Culinary Federation for more than 30 years, Eidem was recognized for his support of the culinary profession, the culinary federation’s honor society and its mission statement, according to Arrowhead Regional.

During his career, Eidem has owned an Italian restaurant and hosted a television cooking show. Eidem is responsible for serving 2,200 meals a day at Arrowhead Regional, a 456-bed teaching hospital in Colton. It is owned by San Bernardino County and affiliated with multiple universities, including Cal State San Bernardino and UC Irvine.

Eidem was inducted Tuesday in New Orleans during the annual American Academy of Chefs Fellows Meeting.
