Two San Bernardino hospitals are claiming to have a major impact on the local economy.
Community Hospital of San Bernardino and St. Bernardine Medical Center – both part of Dignity Health Inland Empire – have an annual impact of more than $1.4 billion, according to a statement.
Both hospitals combined employ 3,085 people, which in turn keeps an estimated 7,121 jobs in the area. That – mixed with hospital payroll and benefits that add $617 million yearly to the local economy – adds up to more than $1.4 billion pumped into the local economies by both entities, according to the statement.
Those figures are based on the American Hospital Association’s estimate that one hospital job equates to 2.8 jobs in the local economy, according to the statement.
