Housing development proposed for Lake Elsinore

A developer wants to build 468 single-family homes in Lake Elsinore.

Spectrum Communities LLC in Corona Del Mar will build on a 151-acre lot next to Lakeshore Drive along Terra Cotta Road, in the northern part of the city, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.

Plans also call for a park, open space and improvements to roads, the report stated.

Residents reviewed the plans during a forum at 6 p.m. last night at Terra Cotta Middle School, 29291 Lake St.

Spectrum bought the property two years ago from Pulte Homes, which purchased it from Centex Homes. In 2005, Centex Homes developed a plan for the site and got it approved by the city, but the project never moved forward and Pulte ultimately bought the land.

Spectrum then scuttled those plans and came up with its own plans that features different neighborhoods and housing designs. The project is scheduled to go before the planning commission Dec. 2 and possibly to the city council in January.

If approved, construction wouldn’t start until 2016, according to the report.
