Rancho Cucamonga has received a Cool Planet Award from The Climate Registry, a non-profit agency that designs and operates greenhouse gas compliance programs in the United States and Canada, and Southern California Edison.
The Cool Planet Award recognizes Southern California Edison business customers who “implement energy efficiency projects, conduct energy audits and establish environmental and greenhouse gas emissions management systems,” according to a statement.
Rancho Cucamonga was acknowledged primarily for its streetlight retrofit project, sustainable community action plan and demand response participation.
Ten of the awards were given out last month, and Rancho Cucamonga was the only city in San Bernardino County to receive one, according to the statement.
