Upgrades to the Interstate 215 Interchange at University Parkway near Cal State San Bernardino are expected to begin next month.
The $23.1 million project, which is expected to take one year to complete, will decrease traffic and delays while improving freeway access at that intersection, according to a statement on the university’s website.
The project is being undertaken by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority and the city of San Bernardino. It has received $5.7 million in Federal funding, $14.2 million in local funds, including Measure I funds, and $3.2 million from the City of San Bernardino.
Construction may include pavement, traffic shifts and nighttime lane and ramp closures. A regular construction alert will be available regarding detours and/or closures within the corridor and when and where they will happen.
More information about planning, design and construction is available at the transportation authority’s website for the I-215 University Parkway project.
This is 30 years overdue.
