U.S. employers added an impressive 321,000 jobs in November, according to data released Friday by U.S. Department of Labor.
Despite that increase – the largest monthly job hike in nearly three years – remained at 5.8 percent, the lowest it’s been in six year, the department’s monthly report on U.S. employment stated.
In other positive news, 44,000 more jobs were added in September and October than previously thought. The U.S. economy has added an average of 241,000 jobs per month this year, making 2014 the strongest year for job growth since1999.
The surge in job growth was due to strong hiring in retail, temporary services, transportation and logistics. Other strong sectors included manufacturing, where 28,000 jobs were added, and education and health services, which added 38,000 jobs.
Average hourly wages last month rose nine cents, to $24.66 an hour, the largest wage gain in nine months, according to the report.
