Leon named Apple Valley Mayor

The Apple Valley Town Council conducted its annual reorganization Wednesday, naming Kari Leon mayor and Art Bishop mayor pro tem.

Both will server in those largely ceremonial positions in 2022.

Leon thanked the council for the appointment and also expressed gratitude to outgoing Mayor Curt Emick for his service as the town’s mayor during the past year.

Emick will remain on the council until his term expires.

“I’m honored and excited to serve as Mayor of this beautiful place I’ve called home for more than five decades,” said Leon, who was elected the council in 2018.“We’ll continue to work hard in 2022 to live up to being the best place to live.”
