State Sen. Connie M. Levya, D-Chino, has recognized Project Sister Family Services in Pomona as the “Nonprofit of the Year” in her district for 2019.
Project Sister helps survivors of sexual assault and abuse, and their families, in the Inland Empire, according to a statement.
Founded in 1972, the agency serves more than 5,000 individuals every year. It provides a range of services, including a 24-hour hotline, individual and group counseling, prevention training and self-defense classes.
“I am proud that Project Sister is based in the 20th State Senate District, where it has offered vital services to women, children and families for nearly fifty years,” Senator Leyva said in the statement. “It’s so important that we lift up organizations like Project Sister that work hard every day to end the sexual assault and family violence that plagues our local communities”
