Corona-based Tolar Manufacturing Co. will design and build transit shelters for the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System.
Tolar has signed a multi-year contract to provide 600 shelters and more than 1,800 benches to the transit system during the next five years, according to a statement posted this week on Tolar Manufacturing’s website.
The shelters will feature custom branding, solar powered lighting, protective roofs, damage-resistant seating and easy-to-read information displays, according to the statement.
San Diego MTS officials want “street furniture” that is pleasing to the eye, functional and will last a long time, said Paul Jablonski, chief executive officer of the transit system, in the statement.
Tolar Manufacturing was founded in 1991. During its 25 years in business, Tolar has designed and built bus shelters and display structures for communities in the United States and Canada, according to the company’s website.
Financial details of the contract were not released.
