Logic that defies logic

Read an interesting article this week the definition of the word “conundrum” is something that is puzzling or confusing. Here are a few conundrums of socialism in the United States: America is capitalistic and greedy, yet half the population is subsidized. Half the population is subsidized, but they think they are victims. That’s right, you guys are the victims of income inequality, but you don’t have to do anything to get your check. They think they’re victims, yet their representatives run their government.

Their representatives run the government, yet the poor keep getting poorer – does that mean that these socialistic practices don’t work? The poor keep getting poorer and yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about like iPhones and big screen TVs. When I do go to the grocery store I see people swiping their EBT cards buying whatever they want, healthy or unhealthy, with their manicured nails, then rolling out to their Mercedes. They have things that other people can only dream about, yet they want America to be more like those countries. Think about it, this pretty much sums up the United States in the 21st century.

These next statements can tell you a lot about the direction of our current cultural environment. We are advised not to judge all Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge all gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Another thing we hear a lot is that Social Security may run out of money. Why don’t we hear anything about welfare or EBT cards running out of money? What’s funny is that the first group worked for their money and the second one didn’t. Why are we cutting the benefits to our veterans and military, and not stopping the benefits paid to illegal aliens?

Let’s talk about the lack of logic in the housing sector. I had the chance to speak to a HUD (Dept. of Housing and Urban Development) official charged with conducting the investigation of FHA loan limits. With regards to Riverside and San Bernardino counties, we have a problem that the FHA loan limits dropped to $355,350. San Bernardino is a large county and home prices range drastically from Barstow to Upland, and it’s difficult to set an average loan amount on the median home price. This will force many prospective homebuyers to come up with a larger down payment if they’re shopping for a home above the FHA loan limit in the I.E.

The HUD official explained that the decrease in the FHA loan limit was a result of studying 2008 median home prices and going over by 115 percent. The logic behind that, he said, was that they didn’t want to see another huge increase in housing prices and didn’t want to put too much leverage on 2013. There is no sense to his logic. We should be helping people get into houses, own property and in turn help the economy.

Some lenders are now considering lowering their standards to qualify homebuyers because there is a slide in home sales due to the larger down payment required for non-FHA loans. Instead of requiring a credit score of 640, they are considering lowering it to 600 and even 550. We’ve tried that before, there is a reason people have low credit scores, it’s because they don’t pay their bills! So let’s just give them a house so we can walk straight into another housing crisis.

Now switching gears to the state of education in this country, or lack thereof. There was an interview of George Washington University students where they were asked why they thought Hillary would be a great president and what her greatest accomplishment was as secretary of state. As to the first, the answers ranged from she’s a cool woman and she’s recognized globally, to it would be a sign of progression if she were president. What do you mean a sign of progression? It’s actually regression. There are nations around the world who have women presidents, but not here because we’re not ready. We need someone who is qualified. When it came to her greatest accomplishment as secretary of state the answers included “she didn’t let issues deteriorate” and Benghazi was a high point. The future isn’t looking too bright for these kids.

Susan Rice, who broadcast the narrative that an internet video was responsible for causing the Benghazi attacks, recently told a group of women that we shouldn’t forget that four Americans were killed in the attack. Yes, and that’s why further investigation is necessary to bring those guilty to justice, including those White House officials who intentionally covered up the facts and lied to the American people.
