Moreno Valley residents may decide the fate of a proposed major logistics facility.
Councilman Jeffrey Giba proposed this week that World Logistics Center – a project large enough to cover more than 700 football fields – be placed on the local ballot rather than be decided by the council or planning commission, according to report in The Press- Enterprise.
The council agreed to discuss the matter at its June 9 meeting. Two days later, the planning commission is scheduled to hold the first hearing on the project application, according to the report.
Developer Highland Fairview has proposed building the 40.6 million-square-foot project on the city’s east side. Supporters say the facility would create jobs and boost the local economy, but critics worry that it would add to traffic and air quality problems.
