Mag Instrument wins prestigious award

Mag Instrument Inc., the global leader in flashlight technology and maker of the world famous line of Maglite flashlights, was recently honored by the North American Retail Hardware Association at its 2018 trade show in Las Vegas.

The Ontario, California-based company, which manufactures flashlights used by law enforcement, military and first responders worldwide, won the association’s American Manufacturing award for “Best New Product,” according to company officials.

Mag Instrument was honored for its rechargeable ML150LR LED Rechargeable flashlight system, which took several years to develop and just recently became available at retail stores, said Tony Maglica, founder and president of Mag Instrument.

In time, the ML150LR could be as game-changing as the company’s first heavy-duty flashlights were when they were introduced in 1979, according to Maglica.

“This is a great product”  Maglica said during an interview the day after the trade show ended. “We worked on it for quite awhile.  The ML150 is competitively priced and we never get beat on quality, performance and reliability.”

The ML150LR is under 11 inches long and throws a beam of light more than one quarter of a mile. The flashlight also has multiple power settings and mode function sets, and it’s recharged in a portable cradle that can be plugged into a standard wall outlet or a 12-volt charger in a vehicle.

The flashlight can run for up to 75 hours on one charge in eco mode, and it has a patented “heat sinking” technology.  This technology is crucial because the device’s LED engine must be kept cool in order to cast a strong light and otherwise run efficiently. Despite its mid-size (C-cell format) dimensions, the ML150LR™ generates a stunning 1,082 lumens.

“A flashlight should be a powerful, durable, and reliable light source that is long-lasting,” Maglica said in a statement released prior to the trade show.
