Beaumont is scheduled to hold a special meeting tonight during which community members may offer their opinions regarding the hiring a permanent city manager.
Avery Associates, a Los Gatos consulting firm hired by the city to help it fill the position, will conduct the meeting, according to a statement posted on the city’s website.
The firm has helped Alameda, Hemet and Carlsbad conduct similar searches. It will be paid $18,900 and will have an out-of-pocket expense account not to exceed $7,000.
The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center, 550 E. 6th St.
The session is meant to clarify the city’s priorities for filling the position, establish what kind of professional background the candidate should have and determine the most important issues facing the city, according to the statement.
Former Beaumont City Manager Alan Kapanicas was placed on administrative leave in June amid investigations by local and state and federal law enforcement into the city’s finances and its relationships with former consultants.
Kapanicas agreed to step down in October. Elizabeth Gibbs is the city’s acting city manager.
