Moreno Valley steps up effort to help local vets find jobs

Moreno Valley has made a change to its program that helps local veterans find work.

Hire a MoValley Veteran formerly offered a $1,000 bonus to any city business that hired a Moreno Valley resident who also served in the U.S. Armed Forces, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Under a change recently approved by the city council, the program now awards $1,500 to any local business that hires a veteran, with a limit of 10 veteran hires per business. The business is also required to share $500 of that bonus with the new employee.

Moreno Valley businesses may now receive up to $15,000 per year, through the program, with $10,000 of that to stay with the business.

“The city council and I are thrilled to expand the Hire a MoVal Vet monetary incentives to include both employers and veterans,” Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez said in the statement. “We are a military-friendly city, and we encourage all Moreno Valley employers to consider Hire a MoVal Vet incentives.”
