Moreno Valley is accepting applications for federal funds to be used for projects that help low income residents.
City officials expect to receive nearly $2 million in Community Development Block Grant Funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Moreno Valley also anticipates getting $755,000 in HOME Investment Partnerships Program funding, and approximately $169,000 in Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program funding for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
Block grant funding must be used for projects that help low-and-moderate-income residents or neighborhoods. HOME program funds must retain, or rehabilitate affordable housing. Emergency Solutions Grants must improve the quality of life for the homeless or those at risk of having no place to live.
“Not only are these grant funds an amazing example of local control, they also provide opportunities for low-income residents, affordable housing, and homeless assistance programs,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera in the statement. “I encourage those interested to apply today.”
The City will accept applications for CDBG, ESG, and HOME funding online from Dec. 15, 2023 through Jan. 31, 2024 via OpenGov.
