Dr. Robert Williams, a 1959 graduate of Chaffey High School, has been named the 2014 Tiger of the Year by the Board of Directors of the school’s alumni association.
Williams is a Distinguished Research Scholar with the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore and is the institute’s former director, a position he held from 1993 to 1998, according to a report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
Williams, who lectures around the world on discoveries made by NASA’s Hubble Telescope and its space probes, was also a professor of astronomy at the University of Arizona, according to the report.
