On The Move

James Ramos has been named chairman of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.

Ramos, who was elected to the board in 2012, was appointed by his fellow board members Tuesday, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.

The position is filled every two years. Ramos, the first Native American elected to the board, represents the third district. He replaces Janice Rutherford, who represents the second district.

First District Supervisor Robert Lovingood was named vice chair, according to the report.

The chairman presides over meetings of the five-member board, signs contracts, helps set meeting agendas and serves as the board’s executive agent.
