Gina Marie Lindsey will retire as executive director of Los Angeles World Airports, owner of Ontario International Airport.
Lindsey, who has held the position since 2007, is stepping down in the middle of an $8.5 billion renovation of Los Angeles International Airport, which LAWA – a city of Los Angeles agency – also owns, according to multiple reports.
“This is an appropriate time for a transition,” said Lindsey, 60, in a statement. “The next LAWA executive director will be able to take the Airports Development Program through its next major phase, its next round of projects that will last at least 10 years.”
LAWA and the city Ontario are in a legal battle over control of Ontario International, which has seen its passenger count drop dramatically during the past five to seven years. Officials from the public and private sector both regard Ontario International as crucial to the region’s economic growth.
