Mathew Holton has been named Superintendent of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators Region 12.
Holton, the superintendent at Chaffey Joint Union High School District, was honored recently during Region 12’s Spring Celebration/Administrator Awards Dinner at the San Bernardino Hilton Hotel, according to a statement.
An Upland native and a graduate of Cal Poly Pomona, Holton was recognized for improving the district’s academic standing and stature within the community.
Since Holton took over in 2008, Chaffey Joint Union’s academic performance index is the highest of any district in the state and its graduation rate has risen to 86 percent. That’s 10 percent higher than the county average, according to the statement.
Region 12 consists of public school districts in San Bernardino County.
