Chino recently opened its first park in 20 years.
Chino Rancho Park, 5325 Phillips Blvd., opened to the public during a recent visit ceremony, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Mayor Ulloa and the city council were joined by U.S. Rep. Norma Torres, D-Ontario, and Supervisor Curt Hagman at the opening event.
During the ceremony, Mayor Ulloa presented a plaque to the California Conservation Corps for their role in building the park.
“The opening of Chino Rancho Park reaffirms our city’s commitment to providing recreational spaces for everyone in our community,” Ulloa said in the statement. “Parks are where families gather, where children play, and where our neighbors connect and enjoy the outdoors.
“I thank everyone who had a hand in making Chino Rancho Park possible.”
Chino Rancho Park was paid for with a $2.8 million grant from the Prop 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program, $1 million from the American Rescue Plan Act, $1.6 million from the city’s park fund and some county funding, according to the statement.
