Ontario International Airport will receive more than $11.8 million from the Federal Aviation Administration for infrastructure repairs.
The grants are being made through the administration’s Airport Improvement Program, according to a statement.
Ontario International will spend $8.7 million to repair ramp aprons used by cargo aircraft, $2.6 million to construct a taxiway, $314,000 for taxiway repairs and $204,000 to install runway lights.
“The grant funds are a vital component of our efforts to update [Ontario International’s] infrastructure, enhance the airport’s competitiveness and attract economic development to the region,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement. “Our customers count on us to keep [the airport’s] facilities in top condition, and this grant will help to meet their expectations.”
