Passenger traffic at Ontario International Airport was up 6.2 percent in March year-over-year, according to data released Friday.
The airport served 379,656 passengers last month, up from the 357,590 travelers that passed through the gates during March 2016, airport officials announced in their monthly report on passenger and cargo activity.
Domestic traffic was up 7.1 percent year-over-year, while international traffic dropped 22.7 percent.
Ontario International has two international carriers, Volaris and Aeromexico. Volaris recently announced it will soon begin running non-stop flights to Leon, the largest the city in Guanajuato, a state in central Mexico.
During the first quarter, domestic passenger traffic jumped 7.4 percent, while international passenger traffic declined 12.8 percent.
Air cargo freight handled was up 13.1 percent in March and 10.7 percent during the first quarter, according to the report.
Ontario International was returned to local control last fall after years of ownership by Los Angeles World Airports, an agency of the city of Los Angeles.
