OIA starts broadcasts for passengers

Ontario International Airport has launched its own broadcast designed to make it easier for air travelers to navigate the airport.

ONT AiRadio began broadcasting Friday in three formats: 620-AM radio, internet stream and on smartphones via flyONTario.com, the airport’s homepage, according to a statement on the airport’s website.

On the homepage, the broadcast can be reached via the link ONT Radio Listen Live Here.

The signal, which can be heard on all freeways and roadways approaching the airport, is commercial free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It provides information regarding terminal locations and parking.

Also, the California Department of Transportation will soon put up signs around Ontario International advertising the service, according to the statement.

ONT AiRadio is getting started right before the start of the holiday travel season, which is expected to busy.

Roughly 128,000 passengers used Ontario International during 10-day Thanksgiving travel period last year, and that number is expected to rise by about 10 percent this year, according to the statement.

Ontario International may operate its travel information system through November 2026. After that it can renewed for 10-year periods with the Federal Communications Commission, according to the statement.
