OIA to get crowded during the holidays

Ontario International Airport is expecting a busy Christmas season.

Officials expect 281,313 passengers to pass through the airport between now and Jan. 4, which would be a 5.4 percent increase year-over-year, according to a statement released Wednesday.

The busiest days – Friday, Dec. 22 and Tuesday, Dec. 26 – are expected to attract more than 19,000 passengers each.

“We are ready and eager to welcome even more customers this holiday season, continuing the impressive growth in activity since the airport’s transition to local control 13 months ago,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement.

Anyone visiting the airport may use ONT AiRadio for directions and information regarding parking, terminal locations. The 24-hour commercial free broadcasts began in November at 620 AM and via live stream at www.flyontario.com.
