Scott Miller has been named Riverside’s interim finance director.
Miller, who has held a number of financial positions in the public and private sector during his 30-year career, began work Monday, according to a statement.
Miller will oversee the day-to-day activities of the city’s finance department until a permanent finance director is hired, a process that is expected to take four to six months.
For the past year and a half, Miller has worked as an independent financial and technology consultant throughout Southern California. Before that he worked in Broward County, Fla., as interim chief financial officer and director of finance and administrative services.
He has also worked in Beverly Hills and Claremont.
“Scott Miller has the knowledge and experience necessary to ensure that Riverside continues the transition to a two-year budget and a five-year financial plan, which will bring greater clarity and precision to the city’s financial planning,” City Manager John A. Russo said in the statement. “His diverse background in finance and management will help us complete our existing budget process and prepare us for continued success.”
