Darci Castillejos of Menifee has received the Eleanor Roosevelt Hero Award from the National Association of Business Owners’ San Diego
chapter.

Castillejos, a restaurant owner and a member of the Navy reserves, managed a write-in campaign last year for her hometown’s mayor while she was stationed in Afghanistan as a member of the reserves, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.

One of several hundred nominees, Castillejos received the award last week at a NAWBO mixer in San Diego. The Eleanor Roosevelt Hero Award is given to anyone who helps improve the lives of women, the report stated.
