Beverly Johnson, a Coachella Valley resident and the first African American model to appear on the cover of Vogue magazine, will be Celebrity Grand Marshal of the 23rd Annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade.
The city’s premier holiday event, which attracts about 100,000 spectators, is scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 3, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Johnson, who will receive a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame the day of the parade, will be joined by Palm Springs Police Chief Bryan Reyes, boxer Timothy Bradley Jr. and local realtor and philanthropist Nelda Linsk.
Reyes, Bradley Jr. and Linsk will serve as the parade’s Community Grand Marshals.
The parade, which features Santa Claus, marching bands, more than 100 floats and Macy’s Parade-style balloons, starts at Palm Canyon Drive and Ramon Road and concludes at Tamarisk Road, according to the statement.
