On The Move

Jeff Kubel has been appointed a chief deputy by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Kubel will oversee the department’s court service division, coroner’s bureau, personnel bureau and Ben Clark Training Center, according to multiple reports.

He fills a vacancy created by the recent retirement of Shelley Kennedy-Smith. Before his promotion to chief deputy, Kubel was a captain and the commander of the Southwest Station in Temecula.

Kubel joined the department in July 1990. His first assignment was at the Robert Presley Detention Center, and he later worked parole in Temecula. He was promoted to captain in 2012, according to the reports.
