ONT begins flights to Taiwan

STARLUX Airlines, a full-service carrier based in Taiwan, has begun flights between Taipei and Ontario.

The first flight from the capital of Taiwan to Ontario International Airport touched down on June 3, making Ontario STARLUX’s fourth U.S. destination along with Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, according to a statement released by the airlines.

The occasion was marked by a water cannon blast when Flight JX10 landed at 5:05 p.m.  A celebratory gate launch was held when the return flight departed six hours later.

“Ontario’s strategic location within the greater Los Angeles area positions us to better connect the diverse communities of Southern California to and from Asia,” said Walter Liang, STARLUX’s chief passenger commercial officer, in the statement. “We are thrilled to deepen Taiwan-U.S. ties through this expansion.”

STARLUX now flies one of its A350-900 planes between Ontario International and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, according to the statement.
