Palm Desert resort will feature artificial surf waves

Construction has begun on DSRT-Surf Resort, a 17-acre development in Palm Desert that will feature man-made waves for surfing.

The project, reportedly the first of its kind in California, is being developed by Beach Street Development & Operations in Del Mar, according to a statement.

When completed it will include a surf lagoon, four-story hotel, surf center, restaurant, boardwalk, and beaches.

The triangle-shaped surf lagoon will be the development’s centerpiece. It will cover five acres and will be able to accommodate up to 80 surfers at one time.

Cost of the project, and the number of jobs it’s expected to create, were not disclosed.  Construction is expected to be completed by the spring of 2026, according to the statement.
