Perris is trying to get into the movie business.
The city council on Tuesday voted to create the “Perris Film Incentive Program” in an attempt to raise the city’s profile in the entertainment industry, according to a statement.
By attracting movie production crews, the city hopes to help local businesses like restaurants, caterers, hardware stores and construction firms while creating jobs for local residents.
The program will be funded by the city’s Community Economic Development Corp. It will provide up to $5,000 in grants if production on a film or television shoot totals at least $25,000, according to the statement.
