A low-fare airline in Canada will start serving the Coachella Valley later this year.
Flair Airlines will begin flights between Edmonton, Alberta and Palm Spring International Airport starting Dec. 22 and lasting until April 30, said Tom Nolan, the airport’s executive director.
The airline, which markets itself as Canada’s first ultra low-cost carrier, will offer up to four round-trip flights per week. Fares will start at $99.
A lot of Canadian residents have second homes in the Coachella Valley, Nolan said.
“They’ve only announced one season, so we’ll see how it goes, but we’re glad to have them,” Nolan said. “Canada is a growing market for us, and this will make it easier for people up there to get to Palm Springs, which is a world-class destination.”
Flight schedules will vary from week to week depending on demand, Nolan said.
Flair is privately owned. It began operating in 2005 and is based at Edmonton International Airport, according to the company’s website.
