Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington is the first recipient of the Michael A. Hestrin Family Justice Award.
District Attorney Hestrin presented Washington with the award Feb. 8 at the annual meeting of Safe Alternatives for Everyone, according to a statement
Safe Alternatives for Everyone is a nonprofit agency in Temecula that provides services for children and families who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, abuse and violence.
Washington, a founding board member with S.A.F.E., was recognized for his record of supporting legislation designed to protect families.
“As a Riverside County supervisor, Mr. Washington continued to not only support S.A.F.E. but help build services in the family justice centers,’ said Melissa Donaldson, director of the District Attorney’s Division of Victim Services and a S.A.F.E. board member, in the statement. “Supervisor Washington cares about families and has demonstrated that time and again throughout his public service career.”
