Rite-Aid donates to three Inland charities

Three youth-oriented nonprofit charities in the Inland Empire have received grants from The Rite Aid Foundation, one of 233 donations the organization made nationwide recently.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cathedral City, Menifee Valley and Southwest County Temecula each received $20,000 from the Camp Hill, Pa. charitable organization, which donated more than $5 million through its KidCents Regional Grant Program.

That program makes grants of $15,000 to $30,000 that help pay to improve children’s health and well-being, specifically though nutrition, physical fitness and academic improvement projects. Besides helping K-12 children in communities that Rite Aid serves, KidCents also serves national organizations that focus on children’s issues, including The Fred Rogers Co., Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Folds of Honor.

“The Rite Aid Foundation is committed to being a caring neighbor and making meaningful differences for the children and families who live in the communities we serve,” said Tracy Henderson, director of The Rite Aid Foundation, in a statement. “The Regional Grant Program significantly expands the reach and impact of our KidCents program, while enabling our partner organizations to provide critical out-of-school time programs that are vital to keeping children and adolescents on track for future success.”

To be considered for a KidCents grant, a program or project must take place during out-of-school hours, according to the statement.
