Riverside Art Museum to pay tribute to canines

The Art Alliance of the Riverside Art Museum this fall will present Art Bark in the Park, a tribute to man’s best friend.

The images of one hundred and fifty metal dogs will be painted by local artists and displayed at White Park in downtown Riverside, according to a statement.

The display will last from Oct. 4 through Oct. 10.

Each large four-foot “art pup” will be assigned to a local artist and then matched to a sponsor. After the public display, all of the “art pups”  will have a home with their sponsor-owners.

The art pups will be cut to resemble Labradors, Beagles, Huskies, Basset Hounds, and Scottish Terriers, although the artists will be allowed to paint any breed they like, according to the statement.

The Art Alliance is accepting artists and sponsors at www.riversideartmuseum.org/artbark. Funds raised will benefit the Riverside Art Museum.
