The Riverside City Council has voted to rename two of the city’s library’s after two local military heroes.
Council members voted Tuesday to rename the Eastside Library in honor of Specialist Jesus S. Duran and the Casa Blanca Library in honor of Private First Class Salvador J. Lara, according to reports.
Both former Riverside residents were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor after their deaths, Duran for his service during the Vietnam War, Lara for his service during World War II, according to a city staff report.
The new names will be the Spc. Jesus S. Duran Eastside Library and the PFC Salvador J. Lara Casa Blanca Library. Adding their names to the buildings will cost about $11,400, according to the staff report.
